What is our country but a promise?
Begging for fulfillment from its citizens,
trusting in our collective wisdom
to preserve the beauty revered by all,
to protect its people one and all,
to thrive.
Who can tell lie from truth?
Collectively we decide
each hoping for their chosen truth.
Faith is the belief in a promise.
Hope is trust that the promise is not a lie.
Love is acceptance of the promise,
the truth and the lie.
Truth does not need faith, hope or love
because it is true.
Hope that the promise is true,
making it easy to love and accept.
Otherwise it must be a lie
and not worthy of faith, hope or love.
Sometimes lies are truth denied.
What does it mean to love one’s country
but to have faith and hope in its promise?.
One man’s truth is another man’s lie.
But our country is still a promise
true to someone.
